A Study on the Dietary Attitude and Fermented Food Intake of Elderly Women

Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze the demographic status, dietary attitudes, and health behaviors associated with fermented food knowledge and intake that can influence the healthy life of the elderly women. The subjects of this study were consisted of elderly aged 60 years or older who have used golf club in the park, gateball court, and senior community center located in Daegu area. The results were as follows: First, 57.1% of the subjects said that they were interested in the general health concern. Second, the regularities of breakfast, lunch and dinner were 70.7%, 72.2%, and 75.8%, respectively. Third, on perception of health fermented foods, 56.6% of 'self-intake' was the most purchase of fermented food, and 38.4% of 'natto, chungkukjang' was the most fermented food. The number of times of '1-2 times per week' was the highest at 59.6%. Fourth, on knowledge about health fermented foods, 50.0% of the subjects recognized that they knew about fermented foods in the 'knowledge about health fermented foods.'
